The Comoodle platform has been live for six months now and we’re delighted with how the sharing community in Kirklees is growing. Many of you have offered your stuff, space and skills to support local activities and help deliver real benefits for worthy causes.
We’re still developing Comoodle to make the sharing process as secure and efficient as possible. As we evaluate the platform we’ve noticed that sometimes people post contact details, like a phone number or email address, on profiles for things they are offering or organising.
Posting details like this can cause a few problems. These profiles are publicly visible (even to someone who isn’t registered on the site) so Comoodle has no control over who sees them. We can’t keep your details secure if you post them on a profile.
We designed Comoodle so that users can discuss lending and borrowing through the site’s internal messaging system. Not only does this keep your details private, it also enables you to keep track of your activities and provides a record of what you have agreed.
This system also helps the Comoodle team understand what’s going on with our project and let us help out more effectively if there are queries with an exchange.
We’ve recently updated our House Rules to highlight the importance of keeping details safe. If you would like to know more about this or any other aspect of Comoodle you can get in touch on 01484 456844 or at [email protected]
